Beyond the Horizon
Book One: Jed The Choice
Jed Madigan was open minded and tried to steer a middle course. All of us must do this from time to time, but when is it important to take a stand? Have you ever had to take a stand that was unpopular with your friends or neighbors?
Book Two: Dan Hidden Peril
Dan was asked to step up and put all he had worked for at risk by aiding those traveling on the underground. As with Dan, we too find that membership in the Lord’s church takes us along a journey of ever-increasing self-mastery, faith in a God that sometimes allows very difficult trials into our lives, and trust that there is divine help available to those who ask. Are there sacrifices even today as we seek to serve the Lord?
Book Three: TJ The Choice
TJ was presented with a difficult decision while he was still quite young and inexperienced in the affairs of men. Are we sometimes faced with decisions that require wisdom beyond our years? How is the best way to make such decisions?
Book Four: Bill The Quest
Bill took over the ranch at a low point in its fortunes, with few resources to draw upon, and feeling little support from some family members. By continued faith and effort, the right choices finally became evident. All of us sometimes are handed situations with few good choices. What have you done to cope with difficult circumstances?
Book Five: Bob Discovery
Bob thought he had things pretty well in hand. As evidence to the contrary started to become evident in the life of his son, he didn’t believe it. But eventually he had to face the truth, and it was very hard to admit. Are we sometimes handed problems we don’t want? Do we reach a point where we can’t really continue on the way things are? What is needed at that point? Where do we get the support to move ahead?
Book Six: Steve The Challenge
Growing up and taking on responsibility can be scary, especially when we have other factors pulling us in other directions. As Steve faced his responsibilities, he realized he had to change, and he had to take real steps in the repentance process. What is the hardest part in the repentance process? Actually making some changes in our own lives? Or talking to those who have been hurt by our actions and making it up to them? And why is that so?
