If you are doing your own writing . . .
General Tips for new writers:
1. Please double space your manuscript.
2. Use Times New Roman font.
3. Use 12 point font.
4. If you are writing fiction, grab your reader with a powerful opening paragraph or sentence. Pull your reader into your story.
5. The tendency of new authors is to be wordy and over-explain and over-write, especially as they seek to establish the backstory in their own minds. The reader may not need as much up front as you do.
6. Be flexible and be willing to rewrite. New authors tend to hold onto every precious word. Remember, if you did it well the first time, you can do even better the second time. |
