There are two kinds of editing: copyediting and comprehensive editing.

To determine what would fit your needs, read about each one below.

What is comprehensive editing?

A comprehensive edit involves a detailed study of the document to be sure it meets  professional standards. Generally, an editor checks for consistency in layout and expression and makes suggestions for clarity. This may require adding, deleting, refining, or reorganizing text, or making other major changes to the written document. This may include advice on plotting and general story development.

What is copyediting?

Once the author/company has approved the final text, an editor begins a detailed copyedit of the work. The manuscript is studied word by word for grammar and punctuation problems, and these are corrected. What emerges is a final draft of the project ready for publication.
